I agree with Marley’s point, above. Unfortunately, I think there will always be people who cannot get passed somebody’s skin colour, or what ethnicity he or she is. Thankfully, today, that is only a minority of people as we can see with recent polls showing Obama surpassing McCain by at least 5 or 6 points.

I just wanted to say that we live in America, people need to wake up and smell the coffee. It’s black until we put creamer in it are people going to stop drinking coffee because it is black? How stupid can people be? If people that are prejudice look back in their ancestry they’ll probably have all different types of people from different colors in their family. But, people don’t want to wake up and realize that their just as much of a heinz as anyone else! People think that if they put others down that makes them better than others, well that in my opinion makes them horrible people and they must not be happy in their life to be able to hurt people just because they don’t look like they do or act like they do, well guess what all people have red blood just like they do! Are they going to dye their blood just to be different? You can’t get away from the fact that all people came from basically the same place, regardless of what anyone believes. We came from somewhere, where no one really knows, but we are all human and as a human you need to be acting as such not as an animal trying to protect a territory. Are people really that ignorant to believe that eliminating people because they are of a certain race that they can make people not exist, wrong they do exist and they are probably related to you, look it up! What are you going to do then when you find out that you are of relation to another race? You’ll probably be really confused, maybe you just need to accept the fact that there are differences in all people even the ones you believe are just like you!!!!

Also, I’m really glad Obama won. He’s not my favorite politician ever, but McCain is useless and I’m sick to death of Hillary.

@Ms. Deetjen: You are right. I was focusing on African-American history and not that of all Blacks. I have therefore changed my original story. As a side note though, Ancient Egyptians are generally thought of as being either Semites or Whites, not Blacks.

Your posting is very informative but, sad to say it is misleading. You listed a series of events as Black history but have not mentioned anything before slavery. Black history begins with Kings and Queens leading civilizations well before slavery began (think Egyptians, Ethiopians, Zulus, the Ashanti tribe, ect…). An important period of Black history began with the displacement of people through slavery but that is Not the Commencement of Black History.
