18-1
February 4th, 2008 | by Chris Mendes
The New York Giants have beaten the “unbeatable” New England Patriots tonight 17-14. The Patriots were favored to win by more than 11 points, having beaten the Giants less than one month ago. Many people are seeing this as a victory for morality as if the unexpected final touch down by the Giants in the final 35 seconds of the game might somehow offset the cheating of the Patriots earlier in the season. The 18-1 record of the Patriots came close to the perfect undefeated record of the 1972 Dolphins of 17-0. Patriots fans will have to wait until next year for another try.
Point breakdown:
1st Quarter: Giants score field goal, 3-0. Pats score touchdown, 3-7. Also: A fun Diet Pepsi Max ad for neurotic people (1).
2nd Quarter: Nothing.
Half time: Boring show; change channel to see eating contest on Spike.
3rd Quarter: Nothing.
4th Quarter: Giants score touchdown, 10-7, and Pats score a touchdown, 10-14. Giants, unexpectedly, score final touchdown at 35 seconds to go, 17-14.
